How to install Git

To make it easier to get in touch with us, from the 24th of March 2016 all support tickets will need to be submitted from your Crucial Control Panel.

This guide outlines how to install and enable Git in a Cloudlinux/Cpanel environment, as well as adding it under CageFS.

Use the following steps to install Git on a CloudLinux/cPanel server:

  • To install Git on a CloudLinux/cPanel server we need to install git for cPanel, use the following code:
git-cpanel installation
yum install git-cpanel or yum install git-cpanel --enablerepo=cloudlinux-updates-testing

  •  To install Git on a Centos installation you will need to run the following:
Centos Installation
yum install git
  • If the server has CageFS installed, GIT has to be manually added to CageFS. Complete the following steps:

1. Create a file called /etc/cagefs/conf.d/git.cfg and add the following:

/etc/cagefs/conf.d/git.cfg
[git]
comment=Git tools
paths=/usr/local/bin/git, /usr/local/share/git-core, /usr/local/bin/git-receive-pack, /usr/local/bin/git-upload-pack, /usr/local/bin/git,/usr/local/bin/git-cvsserver,/usr/local/bin/git-upload-archive,/usr/lo  cal/bin/gitk,/usr/local/bin/git-shell, /usr/local/libexec/git-core/

Check the Git paths to make sure the files exist in the given location, if not correct the path accordingly.

2. Run the "/usr/sbin/cagefsctl --update" command.
