There are a few reasons why you may not be able to validate your Google Apps MX records. These are:
- Your MX record updates have not yet propagated
- There is a typo or error in the MX record itself
- The MX record has not been configured
You should make sure that we have configured your MX records for you (if you are hosted with us), or you have correctly set the provided MX records using your DNS provider.
When you have set your records correctly, you will still need to wait for the records to propagate before you can validate. This can take up to 48 hours in some instances.
If you would like to reduce the impact of the propagation, you can reduce the TTL on your current MX records before commencing the change to the Google Apps MX records. However you will still need to wait for the amount of seconds represented by the previous TTL value (for example, for a value of 1000, you should wait about 17 minutes before the new TTL value is active).
We recommend setting the TTL to 300 (5 minutes).
Once you have waited for the TTL update to propagate, you should then change your MX records to the Google Apps MX records. After a maximum of 5 minutes, the verification will complete successfully and email will begin flowing through your Google Mail accounts.
