Changing the e-mail address of a Google Account

To make it easier to get in touch with us, from the 24th of March 2016 all support tickets will need to be submitted from your Crucial Control Panel.

There are times where it may be necessary to change the primary e-mail address of a personal Google Account, for example, to allow the Google Apps service to claim ownership of the account. The following steps outline the procedure for changing your primary e-mail address.

Note: This article does not apply to accounts which use the Gmail service.

To change your primary e-mail address:

  1. Sign in to My Account.
  2. In the "Personal info & privacy" section, select Your personal info.
  3. In the "Email" section, choose Edit (pencil icon).
  4. Enter your new e-mail address.
  5. Click Save.

Once you've saved the change, you should get a message at the email address you just added to your account. To complete the change, click the verification link in this message. You should also get a message at your old email address confirming the change.
